Hello Everyone, Here we are at Will on the Hill again! We are off to a great school year. There is such a variety of cultures it makes for interesting and very valuable conversations. I teach the exciting and truly hands-on classes...Drama and Technical Theatre. I also direct the big musical review in April. My classes design and build the sets for the show as well as perform scenes and the students even direct and crew the big show. These skills can be used in the real world. They also help with assemblies, reunions, and all programs that are held in our auditorium. Eighty-nine percent of our population is on Free and Reduced lunch. It makes it very difficult for the kids to purchase the quantity and quality of supplies needed for my classes.

Most of my students work in order to support their families. I try very hard, each year, to receive grants to cover the expense of the supplies needed for these creative and necessary projects. These supplies keep my lessons fresh, imaginative, and hands-on for the students have a record number of students signing up for technical theater. Car payments, rent, and gas come first for the kids. If I can supply the things they need to feel confident and secure in their own abilities, I know they will reach their full potential in my classroom, as well as other subjects and when they enter college.

I need professional theatrical design materials such as graph paper, mechanical pencils, and clean white paper to successfully engage the students in this unique lesson. Using these materials will improve literacy scores, math scores, group problem-solving skills, and communication skills among our many ethnic backgrounds. I will use the "T" model of Education which includes Bloom's Taxonomy, Researched-Based Instructional Strategies, Multiple Intelligences, and Life-Skills. This project will help provide a base for college math.

Your donation will significantly improve the quality of the education I can deliver. It will create a new experience and a process of discovery for the students. The students will gain an understanding and demonstrate the theatrical design process through the study of the professional scene designer. They will research particular numbers in our Round-Up Show. Each student group will render a sketch and 1/4"=1'floor plan. Each group will then complete a color rendering of each set. WOW! Can you imagine the creativity that will flow?! Your donation is vital. Please help fund this project so they can be a step ahead of the game in college!
