Help me give my students the necessary tools and supplies to become better independent readers and writers. The skill-building centers in my project makes it easier for students to explore forming words and sentences on their own.

I teach a group of wonderful 2nd graders in the Camden City school district. All 21 of my students receive free lunch and my class is a general education class with one ESL student.
This year my students really enjoy reading, but struggle more frequently with phonetic awareness and sounding out words.
I hear many times a day "How do you spell.......?" It concerns me when my students are so hesitant and unsure about reading and writing words. I want students to be more confident with using word-building strategies to sound out words. So I thought of this project.
My students will benefit from this project because it will allow them to practice strategies used to build and spell words. I am pleased and excited that my students want to learn to become independent and confident readers.
The materials listed in my project will enable me to provide more word-building activities in my classroom. There are magnetic boards with everything students need to build many different words. It also includes picture magnets, letter magnets, and a variety of skill-building activities. I have tried to make my own activities for centers, but they are limited due to the number of activities I am able to create on my own. I often run out and students ask me for more.
I have found through the years that students who enjoy reading are more confident writers. In our Literacy Center, the "Sky is the Limit" of what they could do. As a teacher who writes poetry and plays in my spare time, it's important to me to encourage my young readers and writers daily.
