After completing our 5th year at our middle school, our school closed and the junior high moved back to the high school in 2019. I continue to teach physical education and health at, what will is now a jr/sr high school with a population of 394 students.
My intentions are to continue this tradition of seeking grants through this wonderful organization in order to help bring the best learning experiences to our students.
We continue to have a yearly steady decline in enrollment. We live in an impoverished area with 46.7% of students classified as economically disadvantaged (Indiana Dept of Ed). Forty-one percent of the students qualify for free lunches and 7% more qualify for reduced lunches (publicschoolreview.com).
With the declining population comes declining funds received from the state resulting in less money available for equipment, field trips, etc…. With the low socioeconomic status of the families, one can assume that many students may miss out on opportunities they might otherwise enjoy. This is why we seek support from donors like you.
My physical education students love being challenged and being active. With your help, we can improve the quality of their experience in our PE l
My Project
We do the NASPE (National Archery in the Schools Program for many years. It is a sport in which all students can be successful. Some of our students go on to be on the archery team! Archery is a lifetime sport and has many benefits.
I need the arrows because, to the best of my knowledge, we have received new arrows only once in the past 7 years.
I am also asking for green and white vanes (fletching) and adhesive to repair older arrows. In fact that is the only replacement arrows I recall us getting for our junior high since beginning the program.
Please help me maintain this wonderful program for my students.
