Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a public, charter school. I have a bright and eager to learn a group of 1st grade students.
My school has a diverse population of students; many of whom receive free or reduced lunch.
A large proportion of students speak English as a Second Language. Many students do not have the ability to bring in basic supplies to share in the classroom. Many of my students have ADD and ADHD and would benefit from having these items in our classroom as well. They are so excited to come to school each and every day.
My Project
My class would be so excited to have a fish tank in our classroom. It will allow us to further explore marine life. The AquaSprout kit takes a regular fish tank to the next level. On top of just being able to allow my students to study fish, it will allow us to grow different plants right in our classroom. The water from the tank feeds the plants, while the plants clean the water for the fish. My students would be able to learn so much from this complete set and maybe be able to grow some healthy snacks as well!
The AquaSprouts Complete Kit allows the students to be able to study nature using STEM.
It’s an especially great tool for keeping my class engaged. It’s a living model ecosystem that they can interact with as they watch the transformation of the energy in fish food into waste, plants, and ultimately herbs, greens, and even fruits for them to enjoy. My class will have native fish in our area living in our fish tank.
