Help me give my students an artificial aquarium to have in our classroom so that they can have something soothing and calm to watch and to help provide another source of light in our windowless classroom.
My students are all English language learners who work hard and try their best. They are very motivated to learn and love to be active and try new things. All of the students I teach live in poverty. Oftentimes my students will not have the same experiences or opportunities as their English-speaking peers. My students would love to have more opportunities to learn and grow.
My students are hard workers, yet face daily challenges of having limited resources readily available.
I want to do all I can to provide experiences and materials so that my students can explore the world around them.
My Project
My students would love to have our own classroom aquarium. What is awesome about this aquarium is that there is very little maintenance involved as it is an artificial one that does not have living creatures. The tank comes with 10 artificial fish and two turtles as it lit by several LED lights.
This aquarium will create a beautiful deep-sea environment that students will be able to enjoy on a daily basis.
This type of aquarium has proven to provide a soothing effect on children. In helping my students be more mindful and to practice self-calming techniques, this aquarium would be a great asset to our room to help students who need a break. Studies also show that aquariums help reduce stress and also improve physical and mental health. An added bonus is this aquarium would help provide another light source to our windowless classroom and help it feel like nature is able to come inside.
I am also requesting two small shelves for our classroom walls to help hold books and other supplies to help keep our classroom organized and provide students with easy and convenient ways to access classroom supplies.
