My Students

In my computer classroom, I encourage creativity. Students are constantly designing and making projects on the computer from interactive games in PowerPoint, calculators in Excel, to actual pins they design and make to attach to their backpacks. They love it, and I love teaching them how.

I love teaching highly motivated students who love to learn new things.

I teach in a junior high school with students 7th-9th grade. It is a public school. It's amazing to the look on student's faces when they see their own creations come to life. My students work hard in school, and that will help them to be successful in life.

My Project

I am requesting a Galaxy Tab 3 tablet for my class. I teach some computer programming. One part of that is teaching my students how to make Android Apps. That tablet is perfect for my students to be able to test the apps they've created. They can simply connect the tablet to their computer, and the app will run on the device. How amazing is that? What's more fun than seeing your creation come to life on a device for which it is intended? I believe that real-life experiences like this will not only help my students program apps for the first time, but it will also motivate them to want to continue to program in the future.

My goal is to give my students a great first experience with app programming so that they will consider computer programming and/or app development for a future career.

It is estimated that over the next decade, there will be a shortage of over 40,000 Computer Science graduates in the US. I hope to show kids what a great career it can be and how fulfilling it will be as well.
