Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
My scholars are eager to learn, excel and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for 18 years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
My Project
The Surface will enable lessons to go to the next level. Graphics can be projected wirelessly and scholars will better understand how infographics, visuals and media content will improve their digital presentations. Scholars will learn how to use technology to project their learning outcomes in live time for class discussion. Through the use of various online platforms, collaborative groups and working with audio devices like the Makey-Makey, Microbit and Playground Express, scholars will create digital and audio games, books, posters to scaffold and support a budding makerspace in the library media center.
Having state of the art technology in the library media center will help provide greater equity, expose scholars to technology-based lessons and help prepare our future-ready learners to be future leaders.
Please help level the playing field. Thank you for your time, consideration and support of urban public school children. When you help them, you are ensuring a brighter future for all of us.
