Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are incredibly caring and eager to be back for face-to-face learning. Now more than ever, we have to try our best as teachers to provide them with the best that we can. We don't know how deeply this pandemic has affected them, but I will help them get ready for anything.

Our students are amazing, very smart, creative, funny, and curious, and I want to help our students be engaged and motivated!

We, as teachers, have to be even more creative than ever. So, I want to continue to bring the best resources that we can to help students improve their futures! Our students live in a community with a high poverty rate but we will try our hardest to not let that be the biggest determining factor for their futures.

My Project

My Special Education students often have a harder time understanding abstract concepts. Science has many abstract concepts but making it hands-on and including Applied Science research makes those concepts a lot easier and even fun for them.

Applied science is important as it enables science to be more applicable in real life.

All the materials that I am including are for various Applied Science research activities throughout the school year. The potassium iodide, hydrogen peroxide, and dry ice bubble maker will be used for chemical reaction experiments. The Tesla coil and plasma ball will be used to research electricity. The galaxy projector and levitating moon will be used to create a planetarium feel when we study planetary lessons. The jellyfish lamp will be used to show students what jellyfish look like up close without the danger of real specimens.

Applied research deals with solving practical problems that exist in the real world where mistakes are okay and part of the engineering process that is important for students.
