My second-grade classroom is transforming from a traditional classroom of instruction to a technology-infused classroom of collaboration and exploration.
At my school, students have a passion for learning, contributing to their school community, and solving real-world problems.
All of our school's students are eager to learn and have great potential. Our students deserve to learn skills that they can apply in their technology-rich futures and careers. I feel that providing opportunities for students to work with age-appropriate technology helps our students become better learners and gives them the foundations for a tech-infused future.
My Project
My students are the next generation of learners. As young second graders, they are learning how to interact with technology to communicate and collaborate with others as well as to get tasks completed. My students are also learning compassion about earths creatures. As we learn about pollination, students are learning about the benefits "scary" animals like bees have on our environment.
An Apple pencil will help my young students better control items on their iPad screens better.
With an apple pencil, students will be able to use their ipads to show their learning during math discussions and to label parts of insects that can are used to help the community. With an Apple pencil, students can point out out each step of their thinking process. Other students will be able to comment and evaluate work by utilizing the pencil.
The case will help us protect the iPad for years to come.
The latest iPad will allow for more applications to be accessed by my students. These second graders can begin to research with digital tools on an iPad. They can learn pollinator preferences, body parts, and how these little bugs help in big ways. My students will be able to practice their phonics skills on smartyants, post their learning and reflections on seesaw for others to see, and publish their books to advocate the needs of our environment and buggy friends. Adding this iPad will bring our iPad count to 12 which will allow my classroom to reach a two student to 1 iPad ratio (2:1). Our long term goal is to reach 1:1 iPad access for all of my students.
