Just over two months into this school year, I received the opportunity to teach a group of seventeen 3rd graders. The students came from multiple 3rd grade classes, that prior to the split, were too large to foster an environment conducive to learning. Some of the students were not initially happy with the move, but in time warmed up to the idea.
Change is hard on everyone, but my kids are beyond resilient.
The students had to start over and adapt to significant change, a new teacher, new friends, and new procedures. They handled the transition positively and adapted better than any adult would. They are impressive with the amount of adversity they can handle and how they refuse to let it affect their education.
I am a brand new teacher and my classroom is somewhat lacking. The students show up each day ready and willing to learn anything and everything. Students like these will grow to achieve great things if given the proper tools and education. Transition is hard but they are persevering better than any 8 or 9 year-old should ever have to. They are hungry for an education in hopes to be greater than those before them.
We are a Title 1 school with a 1:1 iPad ratio. Our classroom has an iPad and iPad mini. The students really enjoy making projects but presenting them to our class is quite a challenge. With an Apple TV my students will be able to share their projects with the entire class with ease. This will facilitate an environment where students can easily share and collaborate with each other. An Apple TV will enhance the educational value of our iPads even more as I will be able to project while both moving and integrating myself throughout the classroom and enabling me to check on my students.
This is just one way to put technology into students hands in hopes of enhancing their learning experience and to increase student interaction.
It is very important to me that my students are as prepared as possible for their future.
