My students are unique, gifted in their own ways, and in need of a champion. I teach around 300 7th grade students a year. My students are a mixture of socioeconomic levels, but with these different levels, come different struggles.
I strive to teach my students, using methods that are both creative and engaging so my students can find their own way to their success.
When learning is engaging to the whole child, students thrive, not just in my classroom, but in life.
My students don't always have the support at home that is needed to be successful in today's competitive learning environments. Teaching them their own power and problem solving skills is the best way for my students to succeed.
My Project
A year ago I wrote a grant from my District for 1:1 ipads. I was so lucky to have been awarded the grant and my adventure in to bettering my classroom for my students took a huge leap forward. Last year, learning with my students, on how to best implement the new ipads in the classroom was amazing, however we learned quickly that not being able to share what was on our screens was a big problem.
Receiving an Apple TV to enhance our classroom, would elevate the teaching and learning by allowing both the students and myself to share and collaborate during our lessons.
The ability to project my ipad screen for all of my students to see at the same time would remove the limitations currently in place with my set of ipads. I have students who are visual learners. It is very difficult for them to follow along when we are all working on individual screens with no visual cues for them to see. An Apple TV would allow all students to work at the same pace with no one being left behind.
I would also like to use the Apple TV for my students to project their work on the screen for the entire class to see. Often we work collaboratively in my classroom, each of us adding our thoughts to a collective page. It would be nice if my students were able to present their amazing work for all to see, this is only possible with an Apple TV.
