My students are hard-working and dedicated Advanced Placement students. The typical student in my classroom is driven and focused on their future success. They want to learn and are excited to move forward in education to achieve goals that members of their family may not have had the opportunities to reach. We are a small group within the school and sometimes overlooked for funding for resources due to other needs of the school.
Our resources are outdated, nonexistent, or dilapidated, and we need your help for our success!
We want to use the best tools to achieve our goals!
My Project
My AP English Language students are tested on all nonfiction readings on the AP exam; however, our school does not have any nonfiction novels. I tend to rely heavily on internet sources - that may or may not be accessible - to combine with the fiction novels we have. Bringing in Into the Wild would be beneficial for students to study the different language, diction, and syntax nonfiction includes and the different ways tone and style are portrayed in a story based on real life versus fiction. Having students be able to read in the same style they will be expected to have knowledge of would be amazing.
