My Students
Do you remember Senior English and the big research paper, having to research, type, and print? It's that time for my students and they have limited access to computers and printers. Having these two items will provide a place for my students to type and print their final projects.
My students are high school seniors, getting ready to go to college.
This the first time that our school has offered Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, where my students can get college credit for completion of the course and passing the AP test. My students have accepted the challenge. Our school is considered critical needs but my students are shooting for the stars when it comes to education and their academic success. They are eager to work and learn but resources are limited when it comes to typing work and printing it. Most of my students are from single parent homes, where parents are doing the best they can so that students can have the bare necessities to be successful.
My Project
Having these resources will allow my students to have a place to come and type their work at their convenience and not have to worry about the stress of finding a place to type their work. The resources will also give them a place to print their work without having to worry about paying per page at the local library or not turning in papers because they don't have a place to print them. It has been a struggle all year with getting assignments in on time because of issues with typing and printing. If my students are able to get these resources, they will not be able to complain about a place to type or print and thus will put the responsibility back on them for submitting work on time and accepting responsibility of quality and on-time work.
As the classroom teacher, I have brought my personal laptop and printer to school so that students can do their assignments but the cost of purchasing ink for my printer has been a enormous and the wear and tear on my laptop from so many students handling it has made it work slower.
Having this one for the classroom use will help them be able to complete papers and print them in a timely fashion, while allowing my personal one to be free so that I can create more presentations for them.
