In the South San Francisco Unified School District, we see so much diversity in our students. My school, in particular, has such a variety of students that are not only are they diverse, but also some of the most gracious global citizens I've had the pleasure of working with over my career. I've only been teaching for four years and I can already tell that this is the school at which I am meant to stay.
Unfortunately, this school is very low-paying and low-budget because of its location.
This is why I choose to write DonorsChoose.org funding proposals. I want to provide my students with high-quality education and to do that, there are a few more things I need in order to establish the ideal learning environment that these students deserve. I thank you in advance for the previous funding of my previous projects that I have received and I am already looking forward to an even more productive 2020-2021 school year!
My Project
YOU DO NOT NEED TO FUND THIS PROJECT. WE HAVE A GRANT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. This project is being posted on behalf of the partnership between Equal Opportunity Schools, Google.org, DonorsChoose, and the South San Francisco Unified School District. After using data-driven decision making, it is a clear inequity that there is a huge gap in the number and race of students who take AP/Honors courses. Historically, African American, Latinx, and Indigenous classified students are underrepresented in AP examinations. To bridge this gap, this project is asking for the allocated $4,300 to fund all of the following students to go to the AP examinations free of charge to help bridge the achievement gap. Eliminating the cost will also eliminate one of the biggest barriers for African American, Latinx, and indigenous students to be represented in the data.
