My students amaze me with their creativity and technical skill daily!
They are incredibly diverse in their interests, home language, ethnic and national origin, age, life experience, socio-economic status, and gender expression, among other things.
I'm excited to teach them all. Whether they're just taking an art class to fill a graduation requirement, trying out their first AP class, or they aim to be career artists, each student brings a unique voice based on all of those unique background and life experiences. The stories my students grow up with end up in their art and that makes my job as an educator lively, fun, and enriching on a daily basis.
The materials in this project will affect all AP Studio Art students.
We will be able to put student artwork into new contexts like infographics, graphs, magazine articles, and we'll be able to edit digitally using up-to-date industry tools.
My students will be exposed to these tools in order to raise AP scores, prepare themselves for college and career opportunities coming in their futures. Our site hopes to bring historically marginalized student groups into AP classes. Having the right tools for the job and helping this year's group go digital will boost enrollment in AP in years to come. We're excited!
