My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to go beyond the textbook to experience history from a variety of viewpoints. Beyond projects, my students love to pursue their individual passions by reading a wide range of material, including the works of historians, as well as works of historical fiction.
Each student comes to school ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My students are inspirational individuals who often work to apply their academic passions to real world problems. Furthermore, they seek to learn history to understand the current world around them.
Many of my students come into the classroom saying that they absolutely love learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and other learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn.
My Project
The resources that I have selected will enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library of rich print sources is a place that my students really enjoy. Every resource that is placed in my library is treated with care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to study or to read based upon their areas of interest. All of these resources have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what additional type of subjects that they would enjoy pursuing.
With these new resources, my students will be able to choose from a variety of texts that will allow them to study and read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose resources that interest them.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading and learning about the world around them, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
