Mrs. Potts from Pittsburgh PA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need books on a higher level. These early chapter books will help support my "high flyers." They will also need crayons and glue to start off the year.

I teach in a city school where most children qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. Each year I receive 25 eager and nervous 6-7 year olds. They are at all different levels of intelligence. There are students who come from 2 parent homes, single parent homes, are raised by their grandmas and there's even a small chance that one may be homeless. In other words, my students are extremely needy. Not only do they need to be educated on their level, some require emotional support, learning support and they all need love.
Every time I request something from Donors Choose it's exactly what I need to help my class in the easiest way.
I can provide the educational support, emotional support and love, but can not always supply the money to support my kids with the other necessary resources for my children.
Although we get most things we need, our school often runs out of supplies. Therefore I am asking for supplies to start off my school year. Please take the chance on my students to help them get off on the right foot! Thank you for your consideration.
I always request a nice big box of crayons and a new glue stick for each child's "tool box" for the beginning of the year. The look on their faces is priceless.
I added some early chapter books to my request this year.
I had a lot of students reading at a higher level by Christmas time and by the end of the year I was borrowing books from my colleagues because I'd run out. These new Judy Moody and Ready Freddy books will help my collection grow.
Lastly, I'm requesting the books about kids with special needs. The children that come to my school often have special needs and I want my students to respect them and treat them appropriately. I know these books will help me with this.
