Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Just because our students' background experiences may be limited, our classroom experiences should be limitless!
Our TK and Kindergarten students are beautifully diverse - in ethnicities, socio-economic situations, and in life experiences.
We are a combination class at our Title I school (which means the majority of our school population qualifies for free or reduced lunch). Due to the pandemic, this year is their very first school experience as many have not been able to take advantage of any preschool programs.
My Project
Since it is nearly impossible to document every learning moment in our classroom, we will utilize a memory book that captures the year's highlights despite the COVID surges, quarantines and added stress from learning during a global pandemic.
By making a photo book that documents 26 impactful learning moments, students will have a memory book they can read and treasure for years.
I have done this in the past and families are so thankful their child's first school year memories are nestled in a beautiful photo book instead of multiple cumbersome projects that are difficult to store. As a parent myself, I wish all of my children’s teachers would have done the same.
