This group of children is absolutely amazing! They are kind, encouraging, love to learn, and hard working. There are many varying abilities throughout the children as some can read, spell and write fluently while others are working so hard and just not where they need to be yet. Within their different needs and languages, the commonality is that the use of technology is their sweet spot and motivation.
The children have a zest for learning through hands on activities like educational games and technology to solidify their understanding of concepts.
My Project
The children absolutely LOVE using the recently donated iPad and Osmo Genius kit! They love practicing what we’re learning through the daily use of this interactive technology.
Every student is super excited to use an interactive technology tool as it makes learning fun for all levels of students.
A tool such as this keeps them engaged during Math intervention and Reading groups where more opportunities for independent practice are so vital.
With having only one iPad and Osmo Genius kit, students are only able to have ONE opportunity a month to use it in reading and math. This is by far their favorite hands on activity to use. While watching the children’s excitement as they wait for their turn, I plan on letting them use my personal iPad as well. It is my commitment to try to find a way to bring another iPad and two Osmo Genius kits into the classroom.
The flexibility another iPad and Osmo Genius kits would allow the children to enhance their academic learning in the areas of reading, math, writing, art, and beginning physics every 8 days instead of waiting once a month. These additional learning resources will help them to solidify their understanding of a multitude of concepts.
I would so love an opportunity to allow students to have multiple times a month to interact with this learning activity. An iPad and the Osmo Genius kits would be a great additional resource to our classroom. This fun interactive system will help enhance the children’s academic learning, ensure that every student has the opportunity to use technology and aid in their practice of social skills as well.
