Help me give my students the gift of a drawing library in the art room. Being able to use books in my art room not only incorporates literacy objective but also provides heaps of inspiration for my students.
Hello! I am the art teacher at an amazing elementary school. I have 18 classes one hour per week and serve 370 kindergartners through fifth-grade students. The art room is an important part of our building. It is a place for self-expression, creating, sharing, learning, discovering and enjoying the company of our peers.
The kids at our school are fun, witty, well-behaved and so eager to participate and try new things.
They are amazing kids! Our school is a safe environment for the students, especially those with difficult family situations. For many years, our attendance rate has been over 95%, which shows our students like coming to school. We are a rural school with high poverty, so our students don't always have the opportunity for travel or technology. This school has incredible kids who deserve the best that can be offered to them!
My Project
Help me give my students a variety of "How to Draw" books. The books will permit students to draw what they like with independence. The student will be shown how to break the picture down step by step and into shapes and lines. The books will aid beginning and struggling students to see how the parts make up the whole picture without being overwhelmed.
"How to Draw " books allow students to explore and learn in a way that works for them which builds up confidence.
The books also allow students to work at their own pace. Continued practice makes all the difference to their development in art. A large variety of books will engage every learner and give a large selection of images to choose from.
