Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a fantastic group of first graders. Their enthusiasm for learning is inspiring. They have many questions and ideas, which, in turn, lead me to try my best to support them by providing the resources for answering and pursuing their interests.

It is great teaching students who have such a commitment and motivation to do their best.

It brings out the best in teachers, which strongly impacts the students' outcomes.

My students have great potential to turn into great readers, writers, and thinkers. It has been a pleasure pushing them to meet and exceed their potential. I do not doubt that they will meet their goals as learners.

My Project

For our nonfiction reading and writing unit about endangered animals, students will use these nonfiction books to gather information on their topic. Then, they will use the facts learned in reading to write their own informational book during writing.

I hope that these books will help answer their questions, inspire new questions, and help them gain the knowledge needed to teach others about their endangered animals.

Having these nonfiction books in my classroom will not only help my students become better readers, but it will also provide them with the choice to choose their own topic and in turn, understand that as learners they can pursue and learn about anything they have questions about.
