Help me give my students access to animal tracks in the classroom. Learning about animals that live in our community will give hands on, real life learning.
We live in a rural town that has an abundant wildlife population surrounding it. Some students are unaware of the animals in their own backyards. Giving students an opportunity to learn about animal tracks may encourage them to do some outdoor exploration and research what animals they may see in the wild around our forested town.
Not all students are familiar with the wild animals they live around.
Having an opportunity to explore tracks of various animals will encourage them to think out of the box and understand what animals live near them. This brings community into the classroom and gives students a real life experience.
My Project
If my project is fully funded our class will be able to research and explore animals specific to our town's habitat. Students will trace and stamp animal tracks that they may have seen or will see right out their back doors. We will all be excited to see real tracks and to be able to identify them. This will be a lifetime learning activity for most of my students that live in rural, forested areas of Idaho. Hands on track activities will give them tools necessary to know what animals live where they live as they explore forests around them.
