Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 6 wonderful students in my Pre-K-1st grade classroom! They love animals and have really enjoyed the jungle theme in the classroom. Books like Brown Bear, Animal Boogie, and Giraffes Can't Dance are so of their favorites! One of my students even takes the books to his desk and then tries molding the animals from the story with his Play-Doh.
My students are so fun and active!
Some of my students have too much energy for sitting in regular chairs, so I am continuously looking for alternative chair options. Rocking chairs and swivel chairs help my students channel their extra energy into more productive things so that they can focus on learning!
My Project
Alternative seating is something that is very important in my classroom. My student have very energetic little bodies and some impulse control issues, so having a way to get those wiggles out is very important in helping optimize their learning.
I think these rockers will be a fun classroom addition.
Students can either work toward earning the chance to use this seating or it can be something I can offer when I notice a student is particularly struggling with sitting still. My students love animals and our jungle themed classroom. Having animal themed activities and features in the classroom has helped them focus more and be more interested in the lessons.
