This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I would like my second grade students to obtain a classroom collection of materials that are related to their language abilities that reinforce key concepts regarding animal survival and adaptations. By carefully selecting learning materials that are based on their reading abilities they will develop keen understanding on life in the animal kingdom.

My second graders come from low-income families.

Many of their parents are strictly Spanish speakers. By getting these educational supplies they will benefit immensely from their experiences with these materials that they otherwise might not receive at home.

My Project

My students need experiences that they can grasp and understand about how animals are part of the animal kingdom. Included they will be able to distinguish between a predator or a prey. Additionally, whether the animal is an omnivore, carnivore or herbivore. The series of books all will have a specific theme that will guide my students through relevant and related content. Because all the topics are of high interest and student-friendly they will have a greater opportunity for learning how animals live, survive, as well as though becoming endangered and protected. It will also teach cooperation as students work successfully together in groups.
