Ours is a diverse, Title I school with a student body that is dedicated to being kind, respectful, responsible and ready to learn. Our school community is built off the culture and traditions of our students, and as educators, we strive to reflect them in every lesson.
Our scholars bring their best selves day in and day out; they persevere academically; they are exemplars of resiliency.
My class begins our day with a community circle to greet each other and talk about what we're bringing with us this morning, and what we want to leave with by day's end. We are a team. We support each other. We celebrate each other. Outside the classroom is a mural that we made collaboratively at the beginning of the year. It reminds us that we as a group are more powerful that we as individuals. Expectations are high for all students, and all students meet them on a regular basis.
Our scholars have the drive, the desire and the dedication to learn. They are passionate, hard workers who love a challenge and can't wait to explore the next adventure around the bend. All they need are the tools to get them there.
My Project
We have been studying animal adaptations and biomes as part of our fourth grade language arts and science curricula. Students have become "experts" on the impact of the Earth on animal defenses as well as how animal behavior has helped shaped the location where they live. Students will have been studying this for a total of 10 weeks by the time we've finished!
We're asking for art supplies to make our work come alive!
Before our Open House, where students will share their knowledge with the school community we hope to draft and create models of our animals and the biomes where they reside. In order to make this happen, we need white boards to sketch out our ideas, and clay and paint to bring them to life.
Thank you for your consideration! Pictures of their work will be posted!
