Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year, I have the privilege of teaching bright-eyed students that are eager to learn. They come to school every day with an exciting thirst for knowledge and ready to experience and absorb as much as they can. Most of my students are first-generation Americans or immigrant children and some are even being exposed to English for the very first time. We are a Title I school. This means that most of the students in our school come from a low socioeconomic background, and that is why they need all the resources they can get to help improve their reading and English skills. Some of my students also struggle with learning disabilities, Autism or ADHD. They need additional support to aid them in their academic journey and help them excel in all their learning endeavors.
My Project
All students deserve a winning education, but sadly some cannot afford to have the basic school supplies needed to accomplish their academic goals. That is why my students need sharpened pencils, paper, and sharpeners. These school supplies will be used in their reading and language arts classes to take notes, to complete assessments, and to concretely express abstract content. It will also enable many English language learners to acquire the skills they need to learn a new language.
Winning students not only need basic supplies they also need motivation and rewards for their hard work.
My students will be highly motivated with colorful bendable pencils, eraser and pencil sets, cute animal erasers, fancy scented bookmarks and glitter sticky hands. These rewards and incentives will be provided for positive behavior and passing grades on vocabulary and reading assignments.
