My students are from a low economic background. Many have not been exposed to literature, therefore they begin their school experience at a deficit. As the new librarian I have witnessed their desire to read and their love for books.
Our library had a limited supply of appropriate books written on a lower grade level.
Although my administration has been able to provide a small amount of funding, it was not sufficient to cover the amount that was needed.
Please help put a book in the hands of our students and open the doors to learning.
My Project
Every year awards are given to children's books that have surpassed the standard.
I would like to see award winner books in our library where students will be able to see, hear and feel high quality literature.
Theses books are honored in their field for their exceptional quality. Characters are multi dementional, vocabulary is higher lever, and the plot is exciting.
Books are selected, reviewed, and given an award for being the best of the best. These books are what children should be reading and listening to.
To read high quality books will promote better writing skills, vocabulary skills, and hopefully the love of reading for a lifetime.
