This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of the students in my classroom have experienced trauma in their lives, and school is their safe place. They come to school to escape what is happening at home. My classroom serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities.
The typical student in my class struggles with basic phonemic awareness and letter recognition.
About 90% of my students are African American or Latino. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population.
My Project
I am requesting materials to help throw an end of the year celebration for my students as they head off to first grade. My students have worked so hard this year and I want to give them a special celebration. I am requesting balloons, party decorations, and owl themed party supplies to make a special celebration of my students. These materials will help highlight how proud I am of my students as we close out our school year. They have worked so hard. Please help me give my students this end of the year celebration so we can have one last special event together.
