Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a fun-loving, hardworking group of energetic third graders. They range in achievement levels and bring a diverse set of skills to the table.
As their teacher, I am constantly looking for ways to engage all of my students while meeting their various learning needs.
Student participation is a key element in making sure that students are invested in their learning.
We are a California Distinguished School and our district is Common Core ready. We are in need, however, of updated school supplies to support and educate the 21st-century student.
My Project
So much of our teaching is done by projecting papers on-screen using a document camera. This strategy, however, does not have a lasting impact. Once the projector is turned off, the visuals are gone.
Anchor charts provide a visual imprint and allow students to refer back to displayed posters long after the lesson is complete.
By supplying the materials and allowing me to purchase anchor chart strategy packs, I will be prepared to put my plan into action. The anchor chart resources also come with student handouts, so that they are able to create their own mini charts alongside me.
