Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have all been identified as highly gifted. These children have special needs and require a differentiated instructional program to provide them with a challenging and rigorous academic setting. My students are inquisitive and thoughtful. They love to learn! It is important to bring in as many supplemental materials as possible to stimulate their minds and encourage their exploration of new concepts.
As a teacher, it is my job to meet the unique needs of my students by helping them to build on all aspects of learning including their physical fitness goals.
Benjamin Franklin said it best, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I will learn.” My students will build on their fitness agility while having fun. This will enable the children to go beyond the core standards and increase their hand eye coordination.
My Project
John F. Kennedy once said that, “Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” It is important that we get our kids outside, sometimes even away from technology, so that they can learn how to cooperate in a physical fitness activity. Ultimate Golf Frisbee will give our students this opportunity. Learning hand eye coordination, practicing good sportsmanship, while learning a new game will help our students to grow socially and emotionally while building skills physically.
“Physical activity and learning go hand in hand.” According to Neurokinesiologist Jean Blaydes Madigan, “The best way to nourish children’s brainpower is to get them up and moving.” We have learned that movement enhances focus, attention, and spatial awareness, which help with the foundation for learning.
Using these Frisbees will also allow the students the opportunity to try a different ways to solve problems through hand eye coordination and teamwork in a relaxed environment. We thank you so much for your support!
