The 830 k-5 students that attend my school all come from combining three schools that were closed in the area; to form a "mega school." They are a bright and energetic student body. The student population is diverse, consisting of African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian students.
Although the students have access to many resources, their school library has an inadequate number of books to serve the large population of students.
As you can imagine the reading interests among my students are very diverse.
Adding these books to our school library, will allow the students that come to me to have a variety of quality reading materials to check out and read when they visit. I included many popular picture book titles in my project because both lower and upper grade students enjoy listening to a good story. I also choose many chapter books for the older students to meet their changing reading interests.
In this amazing age of technology and information, I want to instill into my students the love of opening and enjoying a wonderful book.
Reading can take you places! Thank you for helping my students get there.
