I teach in a large K-5 elementary school. We have dedicated teachers and staff that are constantly striving to meet the needs of our ever-changing student population. The staff, students, and families work to make our school a family. We are ALL IN.
My active and fun-loving kindergarten students benefit from the opportunity for STEM enrichment to help meet their academic gaps.
I implement STEM time each afternoon and dedicate one day a quarter to STEM challenges as a class. My goal is to introduce my young learners to STEM activities and recognize their learning styles and ways to be most successful in the classroom.
My Project
In kindergarten, students need opportunities to be creative, interactive, and challenged. During STEM time each day, students can build, explore, and create with different materials. I would love to expand this time with the wonderful games an Osmo provides.
Using the Osmo, students will expand their minds and explore using hands-on patterns and sequences.
The Osmo Genius has four different games. Students will be able to work on math skills such as addition and counting/cardinality. Students also have the opportunity to practice word building and letter sounds. The Osmo challenges students by making the coding blocks into different patterns. Adding Osmos to my classroom will keep students engaged in the learning process, continue with STEM learning, and be hands-on play that all students will enjoy!
