I have 32 wonderful and bright students. They are all eager to learn many things in kindergarten. As a new teacher, I am motivated to bring new and exciting ideas into the classroom. I teach low-income students in a Chicago neighborhood. My school is great. Unfortunately, it lacks the necessary funding that is greatly needed. The principal and the staff are great to work with. We all help each other in order to benefit student learning, which is most important to me as an educator. Without funding, the students are not given the accurate amount of supplies needed to complete the school year.
I teach ESL students reading, math, writing, social studies, and science.
My students love participating in centers for reading and math, but I would love to incorporate a writing center filled with the right materials.
My Project
Strong research shows that students learn best when lessons are differentiated for their own needs. An effective way to differentiate literacy instruction is through the use of guided reading. Guided reading is small-group reading instruction designed to provide differentiated teaching that supports students in developing reading proficiency. The small group model allows children to be taught in a way that is intended to be more focused on their specific needs, accelerating their progress.
My classroom is in need of an organizational way to keep my guided reading books for the children to be able to use independently.
We need book bins, a book check-out chart and the Leveled Library Mobile Station which is specially designed for Leveled Reading Book Libraries, the super-sturdy cart stores and organizes up to 16 of your book bins—and easily transports them anywhere in the school! This station is Ideal for literacy centers or shared book rooms, the metal cart has three racks for the book bins, plus a removable wire tray with two roomy compartments, which can provide easy access to reading reproducibles, graphic organizers and more. It even has built-in hooks on the side to hang the book checkout chart. This station would help my students be able to access their books in a timely, organized manner. Please help my students get a reading station for their books in my classroom. All donations are greatly appreciated!
