Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I service about 90 gifted and talented students at our school. My students are unique in that their abilities are significantly above the norm for their age. They are highly intelligent, artistic, creative, and inquisitive. They love coming to class knowing that they will be challenged in different ways. They thrive in an environment where they can research, analyze, debate, and innovate.
It is common for gifted students to demonstrate greater maturity in some areas over other students.
Because of this, there is a greater risk of developing social-emotional difficulties such as anxiety, perfectionism, stress, and issues with peer relationships and identity concerns. Gifted students can find it difficult to fit in with other students of the same age. The GATE classroom offers an environment that is safe for these students to be themselves.
My Project
Help my students become mathematicians with the Mindset Mathematics book set. These books help engage students in visual, creative explorations of the big ideas in math!
The Mindset Mathematics series offers a unique, research-based visual approach to exploring the large ideas of math, which is essential to future math success.
It is a hands-on resource to help engage students in reasoning and persisting through problems and activities that will engage students' interest and show them the many ways mathematics is important in the lives.
The organizers help to keep the classroom organized. An organized classroom is an organized mind. I want my students to feel like they can come into our classroom environment and feel comfortable to work. These organizers help organize the many student supplies that we use throughout the day!
