Have you ever played a string instrument? Wanted to? These instruments are shared by many students, so they see a lot of use. We want everybody to have a fully functioning instrument so that they will continue to enjoy the wonders of music making.
My students are the most caring and hardworking group of young adults I have ever worked with.
My school is in a rural district and has an incredibly under-served population. This is the first time orchestra has been offered at this school, and we would love to see it grow much more. They have fallen in love with the sound of string instruments and also spend time writing and arranging their own songs to share.
My Project
All students will be able to participate fully with these new strings. Our school has very limited resources, so regular maintenance such as replacing strings is very challenging financially. As of now, we have many broken strings rendering instruments and music unplayable, but a new supply of replacements will allow the students to experience a higher degree of engagement and fulfillment, using them every single day.
Students love music and they love experiencing success.
Having instruments in perfect working order will enable them to experience a higher degree of success, engagement, and thus enjoyment. This will contribute to their continued involvement in orchestra, as well as providing a means to allow more students to participate.
