My students are an amazing bunch. They come from families that have to deal with financial hardships on a daily basis. My students are exposed to adult problems and responsibilities that I can't fathom dealing with at their young age.
Despite their starting place in society, many of my students believe that they can become whatever they desire and that school is the place that provides those opportunities.
Some of my students are called, "newcomers" and have come from all over the world in search of a better life. I teach students who have a variety of learning exceptionalities. Many of my students are English language learners and are completing school in their second language. I also teach students who are just trying to figure out who they are and what role school plays in their life.
Despite all these things, I teach students who smile, laugh, and are worth every bit of time and effort poured into their lives.
Teachers are professional students and are constantly looking for new ways to improve our craft. My goal is that by attending this workshop at the Ron Clark Academy, I will be able to learn from master teachers, as well as the famous Ron Clark! The Ron Clark Academy works with students who are going through many difficult life challenges, yet inspires them to believe in themselves and dream big.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, I want to discover their secrets to success and bring those ideas and attitudes back to my school.
Knowledge truly is power and as a teacher, I want to gain as much knowledge as I can to empower others.
