Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in South El Monte where the majority of students come from high-poverty backgrounds. Ninety-six percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and many families live below poverty level. My goal is to provide my students with a safe learning environment where they are free to express themselves and their creativity. Our school has performed poorly in state and district assessments year after year. I strongly believe that these low test scores are attributed to the lack of resources and services that are offered to our students.
With your help, my students will be able to close the achievement gap that exists between them and students from more privileged communities.
My Project
With the iPad, my students will be able to access apps that reinforce skills and enable higher level learning. An iPad helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners open up the doors of education and individualize their learning experiences.
The iPad will become a tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences in the classroom as well as build twenty first century skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world.
Students will be able to create both independent and collaborative projects in order to show true understanding of concepts. Our classroom will be forever changed by the addition of iPads. All students will be able to access learning through technology on a daily basis - amazing!
