My students are Third graders in Maryland.
The class is made up of students at many different ability levels. My goal as a teacher is to teach each student at their individual level. Technology helps make this goal a reality through many different educational apps at varying levels.
My Project
Gifting my class with an iPad will open the door to many educational opportunities for my students that they would not have outside of the classroom. By incorporating technology into the classroom, I can differentiate instruction to each of their individual levels. For example, iPad apps can keep track of the students strengths and weaknesses, and then tailor the lessons to meet the needs of each individual. This is helpful for both the teacher and the student in a classroom with over 20 children.
Some ways the iPad will be used in the classroom are educational apps, audio books, and virtual field trips. Most schools cannot afford to buy extra resources, books, and field trips for each student. With the purchase of the iPad, all of the above mentioned items are at my students finger tips.
In a world where technology is part of our every day lives, the absence of having that technology can severely impact a student's educational achievement.
