Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Learning can be difficult in the best of situations. My students may not be in one of those best situations but I know they will make a difference. I need your support to help them meet their goals.
The students come into school every day eager to learn.
My class will be one of four kindergarten classrooms in a Title I school with close to 600 students. It has often been said that our school is a hidden treasure and for that reason it can be difficult to locate. Because we are tucked into a neighborhood we do not receive as much community support to fund classroom needs as many prominent schools. Many of our teachers seek funding for materials or purchase items independently.
My Project
We need an iPad mini, protective case, three software programs, and three composition books to support their learning goals in math, reading and writing. I want my students to be successful in and out of my classroom. While using the iPad mini the students will also learn how to use technology to support their learning goals. The various software programs will support the students' math and English language arts goals.
One composition book will be used for math, one for reading, and one for writing. The students will document what they learned as they worked with the iPad mini. The books will be used all year by all of the students. At the end of the year, we will review their group learning to discover how much they learned and revisit some great learning opportunities. I will use the composition books as one tool for planning instruction for my current and future students.
