Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a two-way immersion classroom where over 75% of the students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Our school has a great, diverse population that includes kids from a variety of socioeconomic levels and backgrounds. Our school is located in the most high-needs area within the city and some students feel safer at school than at home.
My students are attracted to technology and curious about how it can be used for learning.
They have a desire to learn, but need help to stay motivated and engaged. Like many classrooms, we have a wide range of ability levels and there is a need for students to be able to express their thinking in different ways. The more chances and resources they get to try new ideas and boost their learning, the quicker they will meet or exceed personal, and academic proficiency levels!
My Project
The iPad and case will allow my students to work more independently as we continue to implement the use of more flexible technology in our classroom. In addition, we have been using Seesaw as a place where students can create, reflect, share and collaborate on different aspects of their learning. They can show what they know using photos, videos, drawings, texts, and links.
The iPad will be used to download different interactive apps for various literacy and math skills that help to scaffold lessons for struggling students and deepen learning for advanced learners.
Having an iPad in our classroom will provide my students with an opportunity to gain knowledge in a different way in this technology filled world. I love being able to incorporate technology into my classroom!
