I need an Apple iPad Pro to travel from class to class and use wireless projection to deliver professional development sessions and Digital Citizenship education.
My school is made up of a racially, economically, linguistically, and culturally diverse group of middle school students who are passionate about using technology in the classroom and eager to have teachers who integrate technology effectively into their instruction.
Although my school is historically low-performing, the administration, staff, and students are committed to changing perceptions, breaking barriers, fostering growth, and achieving our goals.
With your help, we can continue our growth by fostering a professional environment of collaboration and learning in which teachers master the technological tools and strategies needed to help our students be successful.
My Project
Our current staff computers are outdated and lack the functionality of an iPad, making them lackluster tools for anything besides PowerPoint presentations.
One of the best ways to train teachers to use the technology in our school is to take a hands-on approach and deliver training in individual classrooms.
Having a tool like an iPad Pro would allow me to prepare and easily access helpful materials from online resources and my Google Drive files, connect wirelessly to our classrooms' BrightLink projectors, and give on-the-fly professional development on the topics teachers need the most. With the iPad's Apple Pen feature, I can also annotate the screen as I deliver training, helping to clarify the information that I present. I can also take screenshots of my annotations that I can then use to help other teachers who need similar help.
In short, an iPad would make me more versatile, mobile, and helpful in the professional development and training I can offer other teachers.
