An iPad for iLearners

My students need an iPad to help practice their English phonics and reading skills. We regularly use online resources that support our curriculum and many free apps!

My Students

So much technology, so little funding! Our students are motivated to learn and practice new skills with all of the fun new apps that are out there, but we don't have enough devices for them to use. By adding an iPad to our classroom they can work in small groups and even individually.

The students in this school are very diverse and come from many different cultures.

My classroom helps those students who are learning English as a second language. Most of my students have only been in an English only speaking school for 1-3 years. They are learning the complexities of the English language while trying to succeed in school at the same time. Many of these students' families do not speak English at home, if at all, so the majority of their English instruction is at school.

My Project

My students will be able to use this new technology to practice their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with apps that help them create stories, listen to and repeat phrases, record themselves reading, associate pictures with words, and much much more. These children love using technology in the classroom and the addition of an iPad will allow them to make learning English fun!

Donations to this request will change the atmosphere of this classroom.

The students will be more motivated to learn and will have fun while doing so. Many of our students do not have access to technology like this at home, and providing it at school will allow them to keep up with the ever-changing world of technology.
