Our students live in a very rural area. Within our whole county, there is only one stop light! I teach 245 students in grades K- 5. They are a sweet bunch of students. In this small county, everyone knows each other. Students here enjoy the outdoors and all that nature has to offer. Many of our students love fishing, hunting, and swimming in the river.
At our small elementary school, we teach our students 21st century skills so they will be prepared for college and the workplace.
We think of the students as our own when they are in our classrooms and library!
Recent state budget cuts have eliminated some of our much-needed school funding. We are all working hard to teach our students all they need to be successful. I love reading to the students that come to my library and watching them learn to love books! It's such a joy watching them become readers!
My Project
This ipad will help our special needs students fully experience literature. Students who have difficulty reading can use the ipad to explore books using the read aloud feature on the ipad.
The ipad will help to bridge the gap for some of our special needs students in the library.
Ipads have several built-in modifications to help all students succeed. Students can use the zoom feature to help them see better and the read aloud feature to help them explore books independently, increasing confidence. Students can also use specific apps to help them with their specific needs or modifications. This ipad will be a great help for many of our students.
