Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love new experiences and thrive off of the use of technology in the classroom. Every week they look forward to our time in the media center to work in Google Classroom, progress in their typing skills, and type up educated responses to common core based prompts.
My students are at a high performing school and do not receive special funding like other low-income area schools do.
For this reason, we rely primarily off of donations to get special items for the students. Fortunately, we have so many wonderful parents who give above and beyond to support their child's education. In addition to the generosity of our parents, we need a little extra help getting those extra special items and expensive technology.
My Project
Having one extra iPad will make a huge difference. My students are arranged in teams of 4. With the amount of students we have, that requires me to have 8 table groups but unfortunately, we do not have that many iPads consistently in our classroom. After borrowing from other teachers, we have about 7 at a time, so we are missing just one more. That's where your help would come in! With your help, I would like to be able to have each team have 1 iPad to work with for various activities. I can already envision my students working on team tasks and entering their thoughts on the iPad. There are apps and sites where we can even display what every team uploaded and compare and contrast the information they produce.
Technology is all around us, and our students love to use it any chance they get.
If we can merge the love of technology with school activities, I have no doubt that can motivate them and get them excited about learning!
