My students need an iPad to interact with technology in the classroom.
The students and community I serve are amazing. Many parents work two jobs to make ends meet. Many speak English as a second language. My students and their parents take the obstacles they face in stride. I am consistently amazed and touched by their drive, determination, respect for others and care for one another.
My students learn English at the same time that they learn all the subject matter school requires.
They may not have material possessions but they have amazing hearts.
This iPad will be an invaluable learning tool in the classroom. We have four ten year old laptops that I am hoping to slowly replace with iPads. Students interacting positively with technology is a relevant, 21st Century Skill. There are many wonderful learning apps available for students to use. This iPad will allow my students to play learning games, research for projects and create digitally, to show evidence of their learning.
Students who are reluctant learners in a subject can benefit from material being presented in a digital format.
I can plan and differentiate learning exercises for my students, using the iPad. A recent example is science curriculum I purchased. The curriculum included data dots, which linked to relevant websites and videos to expand student learning. I would love for my students to be able to utilize these resources at a tech center. The video format would be very beneficial to the special needs students in my room, who struggle with reading comprehension.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
