Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Music is such an important part of my student's day. I never suspected when I started teaching elementary school in 2019, that our whole routine would have to be rethought. I am now looking towards the future of how I may be teaching music in the near future due to Covid-19.
I want my students to continue to have access to instruments despite the fact they may not be able to share instruments at the beginning of the school year.
I want to create individual instrument bags for each and everyone of my students. Each bag would contain items that represent instruments that we would normally use in the classroom. These kits would then be theirs to take home in the event that schools have to close again, giving them more tools at home to be creative with during remote learning.
My Project
All of my students enjoy having instruments to use in the classroom. Because of the Covid-19 outbreak there is a good chance that they will not be able to share any music materials as a way to keep the students healthy.
That is why I want to create music kits for each of the students I service throughout the week.
They deserve the chance to continue creating and learning about music in spite of any new restrictions placed on us at the start of the new school year. Each kit will have an item that taps, shakes, rubs and allows them to move to the music.
