I'm an English III and Survey of African American Writing teacher in a high poverty and Title I school in the Mississippi Delta. Our school serves 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. My students are incredibly passionate and interested in engaging with ideas that impact their lives and their community. Their creativity shines through in their writing. I hope to create a classroom environment that is welcoming and equipped to prepare them to engage with the world and each other.
It's back to school time and our class needs a few things to get off to the strongest start possible! A clean, organized, and book filled environment will support student health, happiness, and learning.
Independent reading is crucial to students growing as readers and impacts their academic success positively.
Our classroom library has outgrown its current shelf and new shelves are vital to continuing my students' access to new and engaging reading materials. New titles added to our shelves will also add excitement to the beginning of the year.
Materials such as markers, pencils, tissues, and cleaning supplies help us start off in a clean and prepared environment.
