Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Dr. Edwards, I love coming to school!"(student). Having just completed my 1st year of teaching, I noticed how important it was to show up every day to support, guide, and teach these amazing students.

Although the majority of my students came in with deficits in math and reading, they came in eager to learn and participate, and improved greatly by the end of the year.

They are curious and hungry for new learning opportunities. My students deserve the best environment.

My Project

Imagine a group of 4 students sitting on Beanbags in the reading center finding text evidence to start their essay. They work really well there because they find it hard to focus while sitting at their desks. Across the room, there are 10 students sitting on their brand new USA-Map carpet listening to a read-aloud from one of our distinguished students. At the back of the classroom, I am using the large easel to conduct an intervention for a group of students that did not understand the Math lesson.

These materials will enhance Differentiation and Student Success in my classroom!
