We are a Title I school which means the majority of students we have are from low-income families. The students I have are very inquisitive. They are also from diverse backgrounds and speak different languages. They love to try new things and they tell me about different experiments they have tried at home after learning about it in the classroom. For example, several students in Kindergarten last year had created pinball machines at home from recycled materials after creating one with their group in class when we did our Pushes and Pulls unit. It really makes me happy see them want to learn about Science even when they are not in class.
This adjustable easel would make a difference in my student's learning by having an accessible place for them to include their findings from their Science investigations at just the right height. Currently, I am the one writing what the students discover for them on chart paper draped high up on a Smartboard. Imagine how the students would feel if they could share their ideas and write it on the chart themselves? Imagine that they could do this work with colorful crayons? This would help them really take ownership of their learning! This easel is also versatile so I could even use it on a desktop for small groups. I REALLY would love to have this easel in my classroom.
