This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember how proud you were of all the wonderful projects that you made in Kindergarten?
I work in a high poverty, multicultural school in Northern California.
Today I was given my school supplies for the year. It was a small cardboard box with 10 bottles of glue, boxes of crayons, and pencils. I love teaching and I love working with the student population that I work with. I feel that they deserve the chance to have a magical kindergarten experience which includes having construction paper, paint, glue and markers to work with!

My Project
My students come from poor families but they have so much potential. They are excited to learn and just soak up the knowledge like sponges. I have academic expectations in my classroom and the students will be ready to move up a grade at the end of the year. I want them to have a joyful first year of school.
If the economy is picking up, it has not trickled down to education yet!
